About Ms. Stanley
"A teacher by day, but a poet for life"
As a transplant from upstate New York, I secured my education through its public school system. Upon completing my undergraduate degree in English at UNC-Charlotte, I worked in the corporate community until I could no longer ignore the call of the classroom. I returned to my alma mater to obtain my teaching credentials, and then taught three years at an area high school. Joining CMS in 2007, I earned my Master's degree in 2009. Currently, I am a Curriculum and Instruction Doctoral candidate and I'm addicted to traveling. I feel students need to be exposed to the world's possibilities in order for them to follow their dreams; therefore, visitors and fieldtrips may be included in class. Since poetry and I have a long-term relationship, I will bring the world of metaphor with me. As a result, my students have the opportunity to meet local and international poets, in addition to participating in school and local poetry events. Learning opportunities occur in every moment of our lives; and I encourage every student not to waste these moments because each one is precious.
