I do not believe that your high school gpa predicts your future salary. Sometimes people do not take high school as seriously as others and there are also times where some people just do not do good in a high school environment. Even though they have statistics i would not want high school freshman to look at it and be scared that if they do not do good in high school then they will not have any money when they graduate high school.

I agree to an extent. Some people do not cope well with a High School environment. Some people have a harder time concentrating in a classroom as opposed to one-on-one. But I still believe that if you have a better education you do have more opportunities to earn more money, than someone without the proper education. Especially in today's society.

I do disagree with your first statement because our economy today is falling due to the fact that people who deserves to make more money are making less. There is a saying that says what you do now will catch up with you in the future. This implied to everything including your high school years. Jobs these days might look at your GPA from high school and your GPA from college before giving you the position.

I disagree with this statement because of out GPA it depends how much education we get and are grades it may be true or not.

high school GPA and future income does it affect you? In some of the passage it says that without a college education then you will not be succesful in life. which is not true because there are alot of people in life they are succesful with out and degree. and then again it is people who have went to college and is succesful. And another part i did not agree with is when they said that men make more income then women. why is it that men have a higher power over women? thats not fair in my eyes. At the end of the day i am nuteral

In the article it declares that you GPA determines the rest of your life. Me as a person i feel as if that doesnt determine your life. The phrase "LIfe is what you make it" is literally how i feel. The stats shows people who didnt have the strive to accomplish more in life. People with the mindstake thats keeps them ignorant. I know thus because i see it in everyday life, people always say that they are going to do something and never do it. I notice myself doing it and im glad i see it because i can change the habbits. My dream will come with hard times but i know it can be done. For example Jermaine Cole went to college at fayetteville state and graduated became a rapper . KIeth cozart dropped out off highschool to finish a song and became rich off of it in conclusion the text only apply to those who let it.

I do agree with your statement that say "life is what you make it". Your life will be what you want it to be because you choose the path you want for yourself. Whatever you choose to do with your life will comes from what you do in your years of school because everything you do in school will follow you. Do your best in school and make money

Earning a higher GPA has became even more important if i really want to be successful later on in life. As said in the text, graduates that have earned a higher GPA usually make a bigger earning then others with a lower GPA. Some celebrities and just wealthy people have not finished college, but they are still successful in life. Also, it was proven on the visual graph men have became more than women around 15,000 more. In conclusion, students need to make the most of their high school grades no matter what age or race because the text also said that African Americans and Hispanics have been taking that opportunity even more than white people.

The fact that you can earn more money, if you had a higher GPA in High School is not shocking to me. The better education you have, the more opportunities you have, and essentially, the more opportunities you have, the more chances at money you get. But, the fact that men still make more money than woman, is a shocker. We have come a long way with gender equality yet, for instance, if you have a GPA of 4.0, as a male you can earn up to almost 50,000, but as a woman you can only earn about 40,000. I don't understand why men and woman can't make the same amount of money, if they had gotten the same education. It;s understandable that you make more money with a better education, but the gap in pay for men and women is ridiculous.

It is true that women make less than men having the same GPA and education. It is unfair and something has to be done because women are being paid less for the same amount of work and same education.

I agree with this statement because it's ridiculous how men and women with the same GPA don't make the same amount of money. Those who work hard should have the same benifits and not have gender or background limit them.

When I read the article I thought the same thing. Women and men are only different in gender roles and if they get the same education their salary should be the same.

I agree with "Here's how much your high school grades predict your future salary"by Jonnelle Marte. Having a high GPA can mean more success for you in the future. For example, if you want to become a doctor you can not go to a college with a 1.0 GPA. No college will accept you because it shows you are not a hard worker. In the article Jonnelle says "A person's grade point average in high school not only indicate the person's chances of getting into college and whether he or she will finish college or graduate school". Playing around in high school is only going to hurt you in the future when you want to go to college. You do not want to be stuck working in a restaurant or grocery store all your life. The only way for you to succeed is to work hard in school and maintain a high GPA. The higher the GPA, the more money and opportunities you get. Jonnelle Marte was right by writing this article. It shows that she cares and wants all high school students to succeed. Therefore, students need to work hard all their high school life so we can have a bright future.

I do agree with your statement " playing around in high school is only going to hurt you in the future when you want to go to college", however no one knows what the future really holds, I'm not saying that you should not work hard but anything can happen in the future no matter what you do in the present.

Here's how much your high school grades predict your future salary by Jonnelle Marte enhance the idea that your high school grades and GPA can determine how much you make in your life time. I strongly believe that your high school GPA do determine your future income due to the fact that our economy is falling apart. The article says that people with better grades do continue their studies throughout college and even graduate school. What I do not agree with and still having problem with is the fact that men make more money than women when they have the same degree and skills to do the work. Study shows that people who were born between 1960 and 1964 and graduated from college, earned a median of $802,000. This hows that working hard in school can pay off later on in life. The article also state that African American and Hispanic men were actually more likely to go to college and graduate than whites. This article just woke me up because I had no idea that our GPA from high school would matter in the nearest future. I guess it is true when they say education is the key to success.

It does pay off to work hard on your GPA while in high school. According the University of Miami’s graph on annual earnings based on GPA, men and women having a higher GPA, earn more annually. A report from the Eastern Economic Journal found that a person’s GPA in high school indicated both, a person’s chance of getting into a college and whether a person will graduate college or high school.

I agree with the fact that the higher your GPA the more money you can make, but my counterargument would be why if a man has a 3.0 and a woman does as well, why does the male make more money than the woman does. Those who strive for the best for themselves should all have equal or better opprotunity. Also, those who work hard and gain a higher GPA are most likely to continue studying and gaining more knowledge. I agree that if you work for it you all should have equal opprotunity.

The article explains how your performance in high school really does affect how your life will be afterwards, and not just something teachers say to motivate us to do well. In the article, it states, "A one point increase in GPA doubles the chances of both genders that a person will complete college, increasing that probability from 21 percent to 42 percent." This reveals that colleges do indeed check for worthy GPA's to determine who gets into college. In summary, It pays off to work hard on your High School GPA in order to have a better chance at succeeding in life.

In the article it says your GPA determines the rest of your life.I really do not think so. Just because you have a high grade do not mean you like everything you learn.Or the way you learn might be the reason why you do not have a high grade .Everyone do not process things the same way as each other. Not everyone needs school to become successful back in the good old days. Now you do because the way the world is set up.

In the article , AoW-- High School GPA & Future I learned very shocking results. Aside from the fact there is a gap between how much generally earn and how much women generally earn. We are ranked by gender, race and education status.PG 3 , paragraph 4 , its quotes " Men and Women were looked at in different stats since women have lower average earnings than men making about 30,000 on average in adulthood. This gap shows how women are not seen as equal. Something else I learned that getting a college degree actually does mean you make more in a lifetime. Although I dont believe this should be . Men on the average who graduate make a median of 802,000 while men who dont graduate earn 243,000. This is very astonishing to read and lean about.

I strongly disagree with the article "High School GPA and Future Income" because of the fact that it pointed out how someone's GPA can predict their future. Numbers are just numbers, they can be used to described things and sometimes even people but they can't predict anyone's future. Even though predictions aren't meant to be 100% accurate I still think it's wrong. I can even use my cousin as evidence to prove how silly this article is, and the fact that the people took their time to come up with those statistics is even sillier. When I was in third or fourth grade, my cousin did nothing but slacking off in school and he was not only slacking off he was a really bad kid from what I've heard and saw with my own eyes. He was probably a freshman in high school and I used to listen to my aunt telling him how to do things and how to take things seriously all the time, he was really selfish and I'm pretty sure his GPA was pretty low but today he is the vice president of a small company which I don't recall the name but that is besides the point. He went to college, got his degree and now he's making a lot of money and he is only in his 20's. Therefore, those kind of predictions are just unnecessary.

I agree with Achelie because"Numbers are just numbers" this do not tell how much a person know bout life. So therefore the higher your GPA the more money you can make, but why if a man has a 3.5 and a woman does better, why does the male make more money than the woman does. Those who strive for themselves should have equal or better opprotunity.

I disagree with your statement the statics are not silly they are fact the article says from the people they interviewed.Your cousin is one person but could you provide more example?? Not really. My cousin did the same slacked in high school and now works at cookout and lives with me.If he would have did better in high school he would not be in the situation he is now.The article provides great statics and granted some people do beat the odds.#goodforyourcousintho

Does your high school GPA affect your future ? I believe it do determine your future income due to the fact that its already hard to get a job its a lot of people that do not work.If you making a low GPA in school it means that you don't get the work. People look at how you did in high school before you get hire and they usually go pick the person with the best GPA and if you don't have a good GPA it will affect the amount of money you making, you would be looked at last. It will be harder to get a good job if your GPA don't look good.

I do not agree Shia. Jobs do not look at your GPA. Jobs mainly focus on if you graduated or not and if you have any work experience. Some jobs do require you to have a Good grade history,GPA but that should not determine if you get the job.

I Agree with the article, because education can open many doors in the future for you. Now I do understand that school is not for everybody, but you should at least give a try. For example many colleges will not take a student that has a low GPA of 1.5, they want to students who show that they are willing to work hard to get somewhere. Like some people say " If you did it once, you going to do it again" so why take a risk of loosing a chance to turn your life around. People say they want a nice house and nice car but are not willing to actually work for it. The only thing I really do not agree with the pay roll of women, because if they do the same amount of work as men, why shouldn't they get paid the same? in conclusion I agree with some of the things but not the others, so I suppose I am on the middle.

A high school GPA can predict your income in your adult years. According to the article “Here's how much your high school grades predict your future salary” the people who had lower GPA made less money. The men with lower GPA where still low in earnings but a lot higher than the women which brings in another problem or say question. Why is men paid more than women in which consists of the same job. Your high school years are very important and will determine your future.

I don't believe this because in high school and real life is very different, we'll have so many things to learn in real life, and that is something we need decide your income. So many people graduated high school with a high GPA but they still can't get a job (I can't give you example but I think it happened to some people) because they don't know how to apply what they learned in high school, that's why can't look at the GPA to decide your income in the future. We do not know what will happen with us after graduating high school or college, so just do step by step and do the best you can, and do not let anything affect you like this article.

The article "high school GPA & Future income, by Jonmelle Marte, "A one-unit in your GPA has a very sizeable impact on your education and earnings". Unversitey of Miami uses the tone and illustrates the past with flashbacks of research that they acknowledge from there annual earnings. In paragraph 4 line 3 "Men and woman were looked at separately since woman have lower average earnings than men" the journalist shows statics about woman earnings based on earnings."Good grades may be more motivated to finish school and advance their education" (lines 10-11).We can see the journalist giving the students motivation to keep stepping up towards the future. The reader caught the attention of the earnings which is the most important, "The findings also show people with better grades were most likely to keep studying after high school" (lines 14-15). However there is negative attitude in this article just like postive to, while the journalist creates statics to inform, he wants to reveal the truth to the audience , for the earnings, are kids that want to know to. unversitey of Miami uses the devices of flashback for the truth of the statics. Inform us about the earnings for our grad student to encourage them carry on. When unversitey of Miami shifts their tone of the article, he also shifted the mood for the reader to be more inspired. In the end I agree to this statement with this message in my head to keep on studying the more education you have the more earnings you get.
