I do not believe a system such as the one in the article will ever really come into place. This type of Qualification system would not give people time to thoroughly get their minds made up on what they would really like to do after school. For example, some may choose the Regular Diploma and later realize that they want to own a world wide franchise of some sort and be willing to do what it takes but the opportunity isn't given to them because of their Diploma. This type of Diploma statute would oppress the people even more than they are now. That's why I say that this type of system will never come into place.

No, I really don't think that this system work. Because there are a lot of things in the past that they have not followed through with. So I think they just saying this to be saying it. Cause they probably will go through with everything they want to do.

This is true but you should have had more evidence or reason for your answer. What if things are going to change , what if there not saying that just to say it

I feel as though you didn't comprehend the article. Its saying that minorities have lower level expectations compared to majorities which will keep them behind. Since, there is so little expected out of us, we will always be behind. We can change it by, setting equally high expectations.

To be honest i don't think students should be required to pass exams constructed by the state, because half the time the things that be on the test we don't learn in class. If they really want to see how we are doing in school, the exams should be teacher made, and instead of having a teacher be a prompt for it it could be someone else from the state or something like that.

After reading the article "Making Graduation Meaningful: A Real Qualifications System for U.S. Students" I have had a very different view and opinion when is comes to how the educational system has been implicated on american students. A lot of corruption and cheating has occur over the years involving eligibility for sports and getting in to colleges. The article had many strong points , for an example it talks about how in today's world people are given second, third, and fourth chances to take exams and pass classes. This lowers the standard for all other individuals.

After reading this article, i have learnt some new aspects of the qualification system of the United States. Personally, there are some points that i would oppose and some point i would support this proposed graduation system. Marc Tucker said his point of view is " a common curriculum produces common expectation"; however, i disagree with this point. Students who know what is their abilities are can take class in higher level as well as student can choose diffence scheldule which they need in order to them improve their education yet find out what they good at which can make them think about career of what want to be and good at. The point i would support is the education is climbing the status, the speaker stated " we would expect to see system as providing much less social mobility through their education system than we do here in the United States". I agree with the speaker by saying that, i do not think it is a good way of education to apply, it would be good if that way applied sometime but not always. Moreover, he also said that students who have a high school diploma can be better than 8 graders, but they are " very poorly prepare for the kind of economy that is now shaping", therefore, students need to complete a two or four years program in college which can help they " ready for success in their career". This is a good point of the education system because i do not think all of the knowledge we have in high school is enough for us to go in to society and work, those knowledge is just the outside of what we should know but what we need and must know is in college. Last point i would support is the system gave the student second, third or more than fourth chance for student in education. The speaker showed his different view by saying that " system of low expectation, second chances means setting lower expectations and tolerating lower performances". I extremely agree with he because along with those will create the chain of irresponsibility of students who are lazy and do not want to learn. My conclusion is the qualification of graduation in American have some good and bad aspects, but still the system here is very good for student in over world.

If this graduation system would be placed i would be for it in various schools. There are many kids who may have been given more opportunities than needed. While there are other kids who do need some help to pass. One question i have by setting a standards to pass would it make kids who are trying hard to pass want to drop out if they can’t keep up, then raise the dropout rate. But because they are being thought at a higher level it will help them when they to either a two year community college or a four year college, they will be prepared to be in those classes since they were already being thought at that level. If someone is focused on their work they can even earn another diploma which will be viewed by colleges and taken into consideration when looking at the student. Every student would be provided with the same work but, then there are minorities of esl student who can’t work with this system then may cause them to drop out even if they did have the potential. I believe this graduation system would help but may also break students. I would like to be in the graduation system because it would help me prepare for college, this system isn’t for everyone but it would be helpful.

I believe a system like this would never Work because the system we have right now aint even working for example we get thought different items in class but when it comes to the eoc its like differents ane we fail and they get mad at us,the U.S is given students so many chances like for what to prove we are smarter than other students in different countries

I agree and disagree with this system for a few reasons. For one not everyone can handle that type of qualification. Not everyone is mentally prepared. We should not have the no child left behind act either this is part of why the United States is reflected how it is now. Some of the things this article informs you about could help progress us as a country. We could become more advance and maybe however our economy could benefit from this.

This system is a little complicated because not all students have the opportunity to approve because I estimate that 35 percent of students work hard for the language, but often fail to pass but there deserts students who have the opportunity and the advantage but if this system would be a good thing because in the universities is that you learn more about careers where we are different people and lifestyles.

I honestly don't agree with our qualification system here in the United States. The reason why I am not in favor of it is because I don't agree with students having to take a test state. Many students have very high averages on there classes but when it comes to testing they fail. What can be causing this is that most of times the teacher don't get to cover everything. Students shouldn't be based or label on there testing but on what they do everyday at school. Is the student respectful, responsible, open minded, or is in task everyday? Those are things were going to need right after high school. If the student is open minded obviously he or she is a skilled person. I believe in able to achieve anything either could be becoming a nurse or be a famous painter you shouldn't be tested on it you just need to learn the skill and you have everything. I think a useful way to test student are making final test constructed by the teacher based on what the teacher taught them during that time of period.

i feel like this article is telling great points because at the lack of energy students us in the classroom, some students waste time on the wrong things and end up failing. but students fail based on there attitudes and behavior problems. Students with high standards should get rewarded more then they really expected. but given first , second and third chance is out of order. Teachers are feeling used because at the end of day the students wait till the last minute to do there work and expect teachers to help them.

Reading this article make me realize that america have a generally have a produced distaste to such systems. Because they have the ability to achieve the things that you need.If the system that they are talking work there will be some people that do not have the money that it will take to have the three diploma. A regular diploma, a college and work ready diploma and a globally ready diploma.

In the article this specific sentence really caught my eyes "In countries like ours that have no common curriculum, less is typically expected of poor and minority students than wealthier" i can understand this but i don't agree with it. when someone is poor others see them as worthless so they expect them to do nothing, but this is wrong because a social class shouldn't determine ones intelligence. Same with minorities just because a person is a different ethnicity that doesn't mean they wouldn't or couldn't be a successful student.

I disagree with this article because we don't apply to most of those rules .So first there is a lack of application of those rules.I somewhat agree with some student should not like waste their time to not fail the course they do not need ,ending up by failing.Another thing we have to realize from this article is by making us apply to those rules ,do we all have the same rate or level of intelligence because each of us think ,process and learn differently.would this system make some of us or most of us drop out ?or keep on pushing?do we all have the same opportunity or ability? Because we all have eyes but do not see the same things or details.Mostly some students feel as if they already know the material or as if they don’t need it,by doing they work or turning them in late.So this article makes a lot of points but people are not ready to apply to those because we first need to work on our school environment and how to apply to rules and other.Keeping it together could help first ,then applying those rules could decrease the drop out of school.Somewhat if the rules are applied everywherewithout exception then,IT IS an ENFORCEMENT .Overall i disagree with this article because before doing applying to these rules ,we have to work on ourselves ,maybe we are not even applying to our own simple school or cms rules to have an enforcement or harsher system.

I think this article is right in terms of "we need to have higher expectations for the people we are teaching in our country if not there standards will always be low. On the other hand it is good that we give second chances because it lets us lean fro our mistakes and not just telling them to do it good in the beginning because they'll never learn how to get up from failure. This is why we should learn to combine our teaching methods so everyone gets the best education.

I feel that making school like that will make it harder for kids to succeed. I say this because it is already hard for us now. Making it this way will just have the graduate rates drop. That is how i feel towards this artical

I strongly agree with the article. More educated schools have better test scores than less educated schools. It has nothing to do with who's smarter than the other. It 's about how hard your teachers, and school pushes you to do better.

I actually do support this article. If you look at the article very thoroughly, you will realize its saying minority students are preforming lower than majority because of the expectation differentiation. Children at Providence, Myers Park, Ardrey Kell, and Jay M. Robinson are well known for being majority high schools with high test scores. As to where Garinger, West Charlotte, West Meck, Harding, and Vance are well known minority high schools. The test scores are lower as well as the graduation rate in comparison. So, if we all had the same high expectations for schools, we could all be well known for are success. But until then we will have this differentiation in school standards.

In some points I do agree with this article but then the students don't choose where the want to study or how hard teacher works so therefore some students make the effort to learn and put everything together, but then again I don't agree because the system that they got now is no working, for example like we do everything we have to the whole semester, and then they want us to take a state test but the thing is that the people who made the test don't know if the teacher's are teaching us what they need to, so I don't know how they expect us to pass a test with stuff that we don't even know.

to be honest i really don't think its fair that we have to take exams in middle school and stuff because everybody have their strengths and weaknesses and just because they fail the test means that they don't pass. i think if u pass the class, u should pass reguardless

I agree with the article in some aspects . There also some parts I disagree with. Minority education and test scores are not the very best compared to other school who are very well funded by their community. But I really feel as if numbers should never judge you as a person. Some people are very smart but are poor test takers. People learn and take in information differently. That's why I truly believe that this system their thinking about will not be able to follow through.
