The article, "Social Media Shocker", written by Rachel Rowan, states gives actual accounts of the "rumors" that people in my family have often stated and told me before. I already knew that employers, and maybe even schools, can look at your social media activity, judge you off of that, and choose to refuse you the opportunity of working or continuing your education with them, however, i didn't know that it mattered how often you are on social media, let alone the things you posted YEARS ago, (like 4 or 5). Overall, i think it is a good idea to clean up/take off anything pertaining any type of negativity from whatever social media accounts, of at least around the past year, and watch whatever future things (pictures/statuses/reposts/retweets/comments) that you want to post.

I am a fan of this article. I truly think all students in high school or even graduated from high school should be careful about the things they post. You'll never know who will be watching. Whatever you post could cause you to lose your job or even denied into a college.

I have mixed emotions about this article. I agree that when it comes to scholarships to use social media but that's only so the people giving away the scholarship will know the type of person they're giving their money to. In other situations though, like simple college admissions social media should not be used because we use social media as outlets. Yeah some of us have more fun then others but that's just what we like to do on our free time. It's for fun. At the end of the day we want to go to college to further our education even though we might turn up after class.

My thoughts on the short story is that students should be more aware of what they post on social media. I agree with the passage because it gives tips on how to be cautious of your future.

The articles, “ Social Media Shocker: Twitter and Facebook Can Cost You a Scholarship or Admissions Offer”, by Rachel Rowan explores the positive and negative aspects of using an account online and how to use it. I have just realized that the social media I use everyday such as Instagram, or Facebook puts an effect on my life, for example in the article, it says “ Your social media activity can absolutely cost you an acceptance to the school of your choice or a scholarship to help pay your way”, informs that the information about myself can impress someone else through the social media. Moreover, everything on our profile is very important because it shows who you are. The public opinion on me depends on what I post and tweet. For example, the speaker advises that “ Keep the profile name appropriate and be mindful of what images you post and pose for” or “ Be conservative in what items you like and share, keep as much as you can private” which shows that I need to keep my information as well as my profile cleanly and privately. After reading the article, I believe that I have a lesson for myself, social media is a two-bladed knife, and therefore, I need to use it wisely.

I agree with the passage what you do on social media can affect you getting a job, school or different opportunities. I was just watching a show last night about nurses who work in the E.R and one lady posed a picture of the E.R room and commented something on it that obviously costed her the job because she was fired on the spot. Your social media activity can cost you. College is very expensive and the less you have in scholarships, the more money you have to borrow . So in conclusion i do agree with the passage because wither you think someone is watching or paying attention or not is your problem. You should watch what you do and say because there's always someone watching.

I am not surprised, that businesses and schools have resorted to using socail media as a factor for choosing applicants. Since we are moving to an era of technology we are given more ways to gather information of a person. Likewise, if we do not want any embarrassing things on the web we should learn to control our lives outside, so that whatever goes in is not something regrettable, and we need to try to clear those moments we do not want to be show. In the end the use of socail media to gather information of someone was inevitable because more people are getting access to the internet and it is an easy way to judge a person to see if they are qualified.

My thoughts about this article is that it has just helped me a lot. I was aware of colleges and companies looking you up to see more about you before they let you in the college or before you get the job. Since I've been looking for a job recently this article came just in time. What I did was I went into my old Twitter and deactivated it. The article as a whole is good and provides good information and is a little guide line for if you actually don't want the business or college to find anything that can get you looked at in a negative way.

In the article Social Media Shocker i do agree with what it says in the passages. you should not post things on a social media website because it will stay there forever. Even if you delete what you post and say. it will always stay there and also it will effect you life on going. it effect jobs , schools and any other type of businesses people have. But people can get judge on the way Social Media being used now.

The article states no matter what we do the government will always have a way to over come the people of this country. I feel very offended by what this government can do with out our council. The government is breaking the law and should stay out of our personally life's. Why should this affect us with our jobs and schools. They should only care about what goes on in there work and school environment. If everyone would just care about them self we would all be so successful.

I agree with this article because many of are young generations now use social media and we seem to be careless on what we post online. We really think its private or know it's not private but we still post whatever we like. Yes important people, schools, companies, and many other places look at are social accounts and will judge us based on what they see. It's important to be careful and wise about what one post online because there are people watching. Posting negative things can affect ones future badly, posting positive things can have a great affect on someone that wants a great paying job or a great career in the future.

I disagree with the entire article, because what you post on the internet shouldn't define you as a person, two, some kids these days use social media for fun, to do stupid stuff and I don't think that's fair, not to give a scholarships or let someone into your school just because of what they do or say on social media, for example I know somebody who just put stupid and inappropriate stuff on social media, but if you meet them in person, you would think that is somebody else just because they're really smart. For me this article or the people who go by these rule shouldn't judge or pick someone by what they have one social media.

I completely agree with this article because Technology or social media is addictive but it also has a positive effective on our generation. For instance most of our school assignments are due electronically which save nature from the destruction of trees and others.Another way it benefits us is with research. It's easier to research and develop issues in the world with Internet and electronics. The use of social media is more likely negative because our generation spends hours or most of their life on social media than spending time outside of the house.Social media is really tempting because it makes us mostly teens to commit or make errors in life by just following others do or celebrities do.

I completely agree with this article because now a days our social lives are all we think about . People should be really careful about what they post online because once you hit that post/ send button it remains on the internet. It never leaves , even if you try to delete it still will be on the internet so with this being said everyone not only teenagers, but everyone should watch what they put on social media it could really affect you in the long run in life.

I agree with this article because we live in a time wear technology is what we are using to broadcast our entire life and what we are doing .So for schools to go off of our social media sites for weather they accept us or not is very relying because in my opinion if you go on someones social media account you will find out who they "really" are . you can see someones true colors based on what they put online because kids now a days dont think anyone important is going to see what they post but in reality once you post something on the internet its on there and its for the public and you cant stop anyone from seeing what you post. Therefor i feel as if we should monitor , and watch what we put on the internet because you never know what its going to cost you , nor whos going to see it so its better to be safe than sorry.

After reading this article I have realized the positive and negative affect that social media or technology has on me ,although I do not spend much time on social media but my smartphone which is all included. As a teen of my generation all we seek is social media.Even when our parents try to make us acknowledge how wrong or how it may affect us in the future we do not attend to listen. For instance while someone needs help or has an incident occurring the first thought we have is to reach in our pockets and pull out our phones and start recording.Another good way it affect us is it makes it quicker to research and use resources such as google and other links in our education.

The article, "Social Media Shocker", written by Rachel Rowan, this shows me the different points of view that each person have in life, because in my case the use of social networks and often actually agree that they can make you lose a scholarship, a lifetime opportunity because and experienced but actually also if we intend to study and give our best then I can give time to each element according to its importance in my case my first time has to be my study to graduate and so in my free time to be browsing social networks like anyone likes to do.

I agree with the article social media shocker by Rachel Rowan because appearance is everything. For example if you are on you are on your social media website and the colleges look on there and see pornography, weapons ,and drugs then you wont get accepted into their college. In the article it said that 27% of admissions officers google candidates and 26% check Facebook.
